Hi Ben,

I have read both of your recent postings. Did I get this right that you think a LT45 has a 4.5l Engine? This is not the case. It means that the LT45 has a maximum weight of 4.5 tons. The engines in all LTs (at least the newer models until '96) are usually 2.4l. The engine was available as Diesel, turbocharged Diesel, turbocharged and intercooled Diesel, gasonline and gasoline injection. As you already have an turbo, there is no stronger engine available from the LT series (as the intercooled turbo only has better torque, but a little bit less horsepower than the other turbos). You could look out for an old Volvo with 2.4 turbo intercooler because it is the same engine with higher charging rate (and more horsepower, but not very much).
Otherwise you are right, the oil pump in all 2.4l engines is the same and in the same spot.
LT45 and higher have another oil sump than LT35 and lesser because of the front axle construction. The difference is where the oil backflow from the turbo comes in, so there also are oil tubes of different length.
As you already have an engine that doesn't really fit into your car, you should have a look for a more modern engine (electronic controlled injection or at least direct injection). Why not try e.g. Land Rover Defender engine?
